Upper Colorado Climate Indicators and Lake Powell Inflow

Scatter relationships between Upper Colorado climate indicators and Lake Powell inflow, plus water-year overlays of basin snowpack and rolling unregulated inflow.

This page compares a few simple Upper Colorado climate indicators against Lake Powell inflow and then overlays basin snowpack against rolling unregulated inflow on the same water-year axis.

It is exploratory rather than predictive. The first two charts show year-scale relationships. The lower two overlays are meant to help build intuition for timing: accumulation, melt-off, runoff response, and how different water years move through the basin.

Basin WTEQ vs Rolling Unregulated Inflow

This overlay is meant to build intuition rather than serve as a finished forecast model. It puts basin WTEQ and smoothed Lake Powell unregulated inflow on the same water-year axis so we can compare snow accumulation, melt-off, peak timing, and runoff response across different water years.
